Rosendo "Rusty" Torres

Born September 30, 1948, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.  Attended Agustin Stahl Elementary School in Puerto Rico. 

Moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1955. Attended school at Public School 54, St. Ambrose School, and graduated from East New York Vocational & Technical High School in 1966. 

Played Little League Baseball in Brooklyn.  Played in the Puerto Rican Athletic League in Manhattan in 1965 and with the Brooklyn Cadets in 1966. 

Drafted out of high school by the New York Yankees in 1966. Three time Silver Glove Winner as the outstanding outfielder in the minor leagues.  International League Rookie of the Year, and winner of the James P. Dawson Award, in 1972, as Outstanding Rookie in Yankee Spring Training Camp.

Played with the New York Yankees in 1971 and 1972, the Cleveland Indians in 1973 and 1974, the California Angels in 1976 and 1977, the Chicago White Sox in 1978 and 1979, and the Kansas City Royals in 1980.  Played in Puerto Rico from the 1966-67 season through the 1982-83 season, playing for the Ponce Leones, the Caguas Criollos, the San Juan Senadores, the Bayamon Vaqueros and the Mayaguez Indios.

 Married (wife, Ada), with four children (Yvette, Rosendo, Jr., Katina, and Adam) and four grandchildren.

 Head Baseball Instructor at PowerHouse Baseball, Inc.; Co-Founder, Vice-President, Clinician and Speaker for Winning Beyond Winning, Inc.; Instructor at New York Yankees Summer Youth Baseball Camp; President and Co-Founder of  The Greater New York Cosmopolitan Amateur Baseball Association.
