Who we are:

Welcome to Winning Beyond Winning's new website. This is your electronic port to our library of professional expertise and experience about training children and athletes of all ages about the world of sports and the world in general.  Our strength is delivering advice from those who have been there (former professional athletes from every sport) to those who would like to get there - advice on how to get there, how to excel while you are there, and how to win in life, after the playing days are over.

Our Mission:

To address the needs of children and aspiring athletes of all ages, amateur and professional, through career preparation and all phases of their careers, including preparing them for life after sports, how to be independent of drugs and/or alcohol, and to place special emphasis on the benefits of competing beyond just winning.

'I Can See Clearly Now'

By Ryne Duren with Tom Sabellico

Ryne Duren terrified major league batters, pitching 100 mph while squinting through thick, dark sunglasses.  For effect, a warm-up pitch would go sailing back to the screen.  Meanwhile, it was Ryne who was in fear and his drinking that was out of control, turning the All-Star and World Series hero into a chronic alcoholic, who attempted suicide several times to stop the pain.  In 1968, after suffering more than 25 years, Duren overcame his addiction, and turned his competitive spirit to helping others.  Now as he completes his 35th year of sobriety, Duren shares his reflections on alcohol, baseball, and life, in a compelling book, entitled 'I Can See Clearly Now', co-authored by Long Island’s own Tom Sabellico.  Sabellico, WBW President, and Duren, have agreed to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book to Winning Beyond Winning.
